Award Edition 2024

AROMATA AWARD EDITION 2024

White whale by Christian Alori for Masque Milano is the winning fragrance of the Premio Aromata 2024. Salty ropes, olibanum, ambergris, osmanthus, iris and cedar wood are just some of the notes of this perfume inspired by Herman Melville's Moby Dick which has the power to transport one on the open sea, on Captain Ahab's Pequod

The public recognition instead went to "...Di Mezza Estate" by Edoardo Tacconi for Ateneo dell'Olfatto, whom artistic director is Claudio Calafiore. Here, the white mulberry, bergamot, narcissus, rose, violet, musk, among the many notes, guide us into William Shakespeare's dreamlike vision among the woods inhabited by fairies, with Oberon and Titania.

Thus ended the first edition of the Premio Aromata which took place in Rome from 16 to 18 May at Palazzo Cavallerini Lazzaroni, now home to the Spazio Sette bookshop. The initiative, sponsored by Roma Capitale, has turned the spotlight on this age-old art which is still little recognized, finally making Rome the protagonist of its rapidly expanding industry.

Over the course of the three days, the public, enthusiasts and experts were able to appreciate the perfumes displayed by 17 master perfumers, taking a truly imaginary journey guided by the olfactory strength of the fragrances and the evocative power of the literary texts. The chosen extraits, taken from works by international authors, could be read and listened to via a QR code in the interpretation of the actress and director Francesca Satta Flores.
